Using E-mail To Reach Individuals Online
E-mail marketing is one of the most effective ways to reach certain groups like teens, college students and young adults. In fact, many teens spend more time per week online than they do watching TV, listening to the radio or talking on the phone.
- Ease of use
- Affordability
- Timeliness
- Access to a receptive target audience
- Measurable results
- Proven effectiveness
Getting Started
An effective e-mail campaign begins with strategic planning. Below are several important factors to consider:
- Use a permission based e-mail list. This helps to ensure that recipients will be more receptive to your message.
- Do not send unsolicited e-mails with misleading subject lines. Doing so may put you in violation of the Federal CAN-SPAM Act.
- Select a format for your e-mail. Plain-text e-mails download quickly and can be read by most programs. HTML e-mails may download more slowly, but can draw more attention through the use of graphics.
- Keep your message simple. Be brief and highlight important information.
- Choose your subject line wisely. Straightforward subject lines tend to have better open rates.
- Avoid using words that are likely to trigger SPAM filters.
- Allow recipients the option to unsubscribe from future communications. Provide an opt-out link at the bottom of your e-mail.
ASL can help you conduct an effective e-mail campaign
ASL's Permission Based E-mail list contains teens, college students and young adults, ages 16 through 25, who have completed an online profile. All have opted-in to receive information on products and services through e-mail solicitation.
This database provides information on a variety of general interest categories including: sports, hobbies, education and computers. Please see our Permission Based E-mail rate card for more information on available selects.
Your sales representative will work with you to customize a list to your specifications. Once your order is placed, just provide us with your completed e-mail message (in text or HTML format), and we'll be happy to help deploy the campaign for you.
ASL takes privacy laws very seriously
ASL strictly adheres to the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 and we strongly encourage our clients to do the same. This Federal law expressly prohibits the sending of unsolicited e-mail messages with misleading subject lines and restricts the sending of messages to those consumers that have previously opted-out of receiving messages. Additionally, ASL follows the widely accepted practices of responsible e-mail marketers, including, without limitation, sending e-mail messages that:
- Display a subject line that is relevant to the actual offering
- Provide an accurate return address line
- Contain a clear and conspicuous working opt-out mechanism that is electronic
- Suppress all previously opted out e-mail addresses
- Contain content that is relevant to the audience
